Apple ties with OpenAI
Apple has reached an agreement with OpenAI to add artificial intelligence (AI)-based chatbots like ChatGPT to the iPhone. Bloomberg reported this information, citing some people involved in the matter.
The two companies are finalizing the terms of the agreement to use ChatGPT's features in iOS 18, Apple's next iPhone operating system. Apple has also discussed with Alphabet Inc.-owned Google about licensing the Gemini chatbot. No deal with Google yet, but talks are ongoing.
The deal with OpenAI will allow Apple to add ChatGPT's AI features to the iPhone. The company plans to make an announcement on the matter next month.
According to Bloomberg, Apple's developer conference will be held in June. The company plans to enter the world of AI at that conference. Apple plans to introduce some AI features through data centers built with its own processors.
